The Reasons Why People Snore

Believe it or not, most everyone snores (at least sometimes)! Snoring is fairly common and it can happen to anyone, but that doesn’t change the horrible noise that results from it! A lot of people wonder, why do people snore? Well, there are a lot of different reasons, some of which are out of our control and some that we can control.

Uncontrollable Reasons Why People Snore

There are a lot of different reasons why people may snore and we will start with the reasons that are out of our control. To begin with, some people snore because of hereditary reasons. Snoring can be caused by the anatomy of your mouth and certain physical deformities. For example, you may have a low, thick soft palate or enlarged tonsils or tissues in the back of your throat- adenoids- can narrow your airway.

Sometimes a deviated septum is the reason why people snore. A deviated septum occurs when the tissue and cartilage that separates your nostrils are crooked. Sometimes this is a condition that is serious enough to get surgery because it not only helps to stop snoring but also makes breathing better.

Anybody with allergies knows how uncomfortable it can be and unfortunately, allergies can also cause snoring. Seasonal allergies, colds, asthma and sinus infections can cause breathing problems. Such breathing problems cause blockage in the nasal airways and this makes inhalation difficult. This in turn causes the annoying snoring noises.

Men also have the underhand because they have narrower air passages than women, which can cause them to snore. Getting older also makes you more prone to snoring. This is because as you age your throat gets narrower and the muscle tone in your throat also decreases and this causes smoking.

Controllable Reasons Why People Snore

Genetics and personal deformities are not the only reason why people snore. There are also life choices that can cause people to snore. For example, drinking alcohol, specifically before bed, relaxes the tongue and throat muscles so they partially block air movement while someone is breathing and can cause snoring. Smoking and secondhand smoking are also reasons why people snore. Smoking relaxes the muscles and also forms nasal and lung congestion.

Being overweight and out of shape is another reason why people snore. Sometimes people are overweight for medical reasons but in many cases, it can be changed. Excess weight and fatty tissue in the neck cause your throat to be smaller. Poor muscle tone can contribute to snoring problems. This can also be helped with regular cardio exercise because it increases lung capacity and improves breathing, which in turn reduces snoring.

Why do People Snore? There Are Many Reasons

There are many sleeping problems that a person can suffer from. There is sleep apnea, when people stop breathing in the middle of slumber. There is insomnia, in which people cannot sleep. However, a common problem that people suffer from is snoring. So, why do people snore?

Why People do Snore Has to do with Their Breathing

Have you ever awakened from sleep with a very dry throat? Have you noticed that you usually end up doing so when you have a stuffy nose? Well, breathing is the main reason why people do snore. Specifically, it all has to do with how a person breathes.

A person has two options as to how they can inhale and exhale: the mouth, and the nose. Most people are able to breath through their nose, but some people cannot, because of adenoid problems, or chronic allergies. In fact, allergies also have a lot to do with why people do snore.

When a person is suffering from allergies, the most common symptom is a congested nose. The mucus in the nose not only clogs the sinuses, but it also can run down into the throat. As a person breathes during slumber, the body has no choice but to breathe through their mouth, which is a reason why people do snore.

People who have chronic problems with their adenoids and their tonsils being swollen will also have trouble breathing. Medication can help with the swelling, but the most common way to get rid of the problem is to simply remove both the tonsils and the adenoids.

Why do people tend to snore more in the summer? Well, that is more of a generalization, but the answer to that observation has a lot to do with the overall air quality. For example, in the summer, pollen is very prevalent. Pollen is a common allergen, and is the source of a lot of nasal congestion.

Another reason might have to do with humidity. This is an interesting idea, because when a person has breathing problems a humidifier is usually a source of relief. However, after a certain point, humidity becomes a real problem, and the air becomes thick and hard to breathe. The labored breathing results in snoring.

If you would like more information on why and how snoring happens, ask your doctor to recommend websites. Indeed, there are many websites about this topic, but only some of them actually contain legitimate information. Thus, with the proper research, you can have all of your questions about snoring answered.

How To Stop Snoring

There are many reasons to try and stop snoring but the one that probably is the biggest reason is because the snoring itself is causing other people in the house to have trouble sleeping. It would be one thing if the snoring was affecting your sleep, but generally as the one causing the snoring, you are able to sleep right through it. So instead of you, the person snoring being disturbed, everyone around you is missing out on some sleep that I am sure they would love to have. Lack of sleep can affect how safely a person drives a car, performs their work and it affects their day-to-day mood.

Once you have made the decision to stop snoring, you will find that you are on the right path to not only giving others a good night's sleep, but also making yourself healthier. Sometimes snoring is just snoring, but other times snoring is a sign of something bad happening to your body. So because there are many bad things that go along with this problem, it is important to a lot of people to stop snoring as quickly as possible. The fight to stop snoring has become a big business so there are a lot of products on the shelves to pick from to try out.

Steps To Take

First you should look at things like your weight and your smoking habits, if you have any. Excess weight is a big factor when thinking about reasons you could be snoring. So, to stop snoring, all you may have to do is focus on healthy living in order to drop a few pounds. Also, by taking steps to quit smoking, you will not only live longer, but you may notice that you no longer wake other people up with your snoring. And this can only be a good thing for everyone that is involved.

If that does not work, you may want to seek the advice of a medical professional as there may be something else happening with your body. In the meantime, you could always try the over the counter aids that are supposed to help you stop snoring. This will help ease the suffering that your housemates are going through while you and your doctor try to resolve the issue for good. When it is all said and done, you will be happy that you took the time to pay attention to your body and what is going on with it.

Where to go for Snoring Treatment

Snoring treatment may not seem like a possibility to you, especially if you have been dealing with your snoring problem for a long time and have used different treatment methods to no avail. Or perhaps you are just not using the right snoring treatment, and for this reason the very best will be discussed for you in detail here.

SnoreFree2

This is one of the most popular anti snoring devices on the market today. It is an anti snoring jaw brace that can not only help relieve snoring but prevent it as well. it is made of soft medicinal rubber with an elastic brace action that follows swallowing movements.

It is very easy and comfortable to wear, and you will probably even forget that you have it on at all. It helps by providing you with a clear air passage so that all unpleasant sounds from the sound of snoring and sleep apnea are avoided.

This snoring treatment is also very affordably priced, so it is worth it for you to at least give it a shot and see what the results are.

Aveo TSD

Another effective stop snoring treatment is the Aveo TSD product. This is a tongue stabilizing device which is very simple to use, non-invasive and inexpensive to boot. It is recommended both by doctors and dentists, and is over 92% effective as long as it is used properly and for the recommended amount of time.

Keep in mind that everyone is different and so everyone's snoring condition will have to be treated differently as well. A snoring treatment that works wonders for one person may not work at all for you, and you have to remember this and not expect miracles from something just because it worked for someone else.

If you have a snoring problem the most important thing is that you make sure to get in to see your doctor. They will be able to assess your snoring condition and determine just how serious it actually is, and from here decide which treatment is going to be most suitable for you.

Snoring is not a life threatening condition but it can cause serious health problems and be annoying and frustrating not only for you but for others around you. The important thing is that you realize there are options available, things that you can do to find relief from or even completely cure your snoring for once and for all.

Is Snoring Surgery Right for You?

There are hundreds of different anti snoring products and techniques available that you can use, but often these are just not enough. In these cases there is a more serious option available, and that is snoring surgery.

What it is

Snoring surgery is a type of surgery that is used to cure or at least relieve a person's snoring problem. This is a relatively new procedure, one that is typically done in your doctor's office and which is better known as radio frequency tissue ablation (RFTA).

Surgery for snoring is a treatment of last resort and should not be tried unless you have tried all surgical alternatives and still have not had success. You will also have to speak to your doctor about the snoring surgery before you will be able to go ahead with it, as they will need to ensure that you are an eligible candidate for the procedure and that you would not be putting yourself at risk by going through with the surgery.

Basically the goal of the snoring surgery is to reduce or stop the collapsibility of the oropharyngeal segment, which is the area around the throat. There are a few steps that need to be taken in the surgery for success, including reducing the amount of soft palate. Sometimes the tonsils are also removed, just to make even more space in the throat and have the best chances of stopping snoring as possible.

There are four different snoring surgery procedures that may be suggested for you: unulopalatopharyngoplasty, laser-assisted uvulopastoplasty, platal stiffening operations, and radio-frequency ablation.

If you are interested in this surgery, the first thing you are going to have to do is make an appointment with your doctor so they can assess your condition and determine whether or not you would be an ideal candidate.

If you are unhealthy or a senior for instance they will most likely not approve the surgery because you are at too much risk.

Remember that there are other options besides snoring surgery so if you have a snoring problem you definitely need to try other methods first before even considering going through with the surgery. Also keep in mind that just as with any other type of surgery, there are going to be certain risks involved which you will need to be well aware of before consenting to go through with it.

The most important thing is that there is help out there, things that you can do to find relief of your snoring problem.

Snoring Spray And Other Ways To Stop Snoring

If you have ever slept with a person that snores, you know how frustrating it can be. They are sleeping like a baby, while all along making this terrible noise that keeps you awake all night. Even if you bump and shove the snorer he or she may stop snoring for a minute, but then they go right back to it.

Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound, due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping. The irregular airflow is caused by blockage that can occur for several reasons such as the throat could be weak and start to close during sleep, a mis-postioned jaw interrupts airflow, fat gathers around the throat or there is an obstruction in the nasal passages.

How Does Snoring Spray Work

Many people snore simply because at night their nasal passages become dry and vibrate. During the day this is not a problem because, while you are awake air flows freely through your nasal passages. These snore relief sprays lubricate throat tissues to help keep them quiet throughout the night.

You should make sure to use your anti-snoring spray at night before you go to bed, and avoid smoking because it weakens and clogs the throat. You also should avoid eating anything two hours before bedtime.

If the snoring spray is not doing the job for the person you are sleeping with, you just might want to try sleeping in another room. If you make this decision, you are likely to get a great night's sleep, but your partner in the other room could be at great risk.

Even if your snoring spray has provided you some relief for your snoring, you should be very careful because many medical studies conducted point to a correlation between loud snoring and the risk of heart attack.

How To Stop Yourself From Snoring

Once you are aware that you snore, you should see a doctor and find out why. It could be that you have a physical blockage in the nasal passage that can be corrected with surgery. Your snoring could be caused by the fact that you sleep while lying flat on your back and your tongue partially blocks your throat. Most of the time people snore because they are fat and out of shape, and their excess fat puts pressure on their throat. Mandibular advancement splints are special made dental appliances that advance the lower jaw slightly and pull the tongue forward. Most of the time these splints are obtained from a dentist specializing in sleep apnea.

How You Can Deal with Your Spouse's Loud Snoring Sound

You are a very busy person, and at the end of the day you need a full night of sleep to keep yourself healthy. However, lately it has been hard to do so, because your spouse has been keeping you up at night with loud snoring sounds. Thus, you need some advice as to how to deal with these annoying snoring sounds.

Coping with Snoring Sounds Requires Patience

No doubt you have probably at least once seen a comedy in which a character would make a loud snoring sound to deliberately annoy someone. This is not the case with your spouse, and most likely your spouse is completely unaware that her or she is doing it. In fact, if you were to tell your spouse (as you might have already) about how the loud snoring sounds are keeping you awake at night, he or she might respond with surprise!

So, what can you do to overcome these snoring sounds? The first thing you should do is go to your local convenience store and see what is available in terms of snoring aids. Think of your spouse and what he or she would agree to wearing (like breathing strips) and purchase the most reasonably priced one.

Give this option a few days to work, and if nothing changes, it is time for you to move to the next step. You need to sit down with your spouse and tell him or her that they really need to get their snoring in check by visiting their doctor. Your spouse should care about your health, so he or she will go to get things checked.

If your spouse is especially stubborn and refuses to do anything, you are going to have to go into another room. Politeness dictates that the woman always gets the bed, so make your plans accordingly. If you are the husband in this situation, then be sure that you have a comfortable couch available!

Some couples actually have had to get separate bedrooms because of snoring problems. So certainly do not want to become one of these couples, so patiently convince your spouse that he or she needs medical attention if the snoring persists.

For more information on how to deal with a snoring spouse, ask your own doctor for advice. You can also consult the internet, but make sure that you only seek advice from the official websites of various medical groups. With patience, you will not only get the sleep you need, but you will also have a snore-free spouse!

This is probably the last of the snoring solutions that people look at because it takes the most work, but it is the most effective and is the cause of a lot of snoring problems in people. Also, if you smoke, you need to try and completely quit smoking all together or at least reduce the amount that you smoke.
